Eleanor Hadland heads up Drewry’s ports and terminals research arm, including responsibility for the company’s flagship Annual Review of Global Container Operators and Ports & Terminals Insight reports. She also has extensive consultancy expertise having participated in projects across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East.

She has over 25-years’ experience in the port sector, having worked initially for the UK’s largest port operator Associated British Ports. In 2001 she joined Drewry, where in addition to undertaking client advisory work she was instrumental in setting up the company’s container terminal capacity database. She co-authored Drewry’s Global Container Terminals report (published 2002), and in 2003 wrote the first Annual Review of Global Container Terminals.

 She subsequently broadened her consultancy experience, holding senior level advisory roles with Moffatt & Nichol, BMT and AECOM. During this period she supported a range of clients including port authorities, terminal operators and investors – across a range of projects including market studies, master planning, feasibility studies and transaction advisory. She also has extensive cross-sector experience, gained from working on assignments covering port engineering, dry and liquid bulk, project cargo, finished vehicles, roro, cruise, as well as containers.

Having re-joined Drewry in 2019, she is now leading the company’s port and terminals research team which provides authoritative insight on the key trends driving change within the sector, as well as in-depth assessment of the strategies employed by the leading terminal operators.
