Ashley is dual British-Australian national. Spending his primary school years in Australia and part of which living on a remote mine where he was schooled via CB radio, Ashley developed a fascination with the natural environmental and resources.

Ashley completed a B.Sc and M.Sc at the University of Durham in Geosciences.  Ashley’s early career as an Environmental Consultant focused on Water Resource Management, Flood Risk and later Water Sensitive Urban Design. During this period Ashley completed an M.Res (Eng) in Urban Sustainability and Resilience at University College London, focusing on the use of mathematical decision theory for sustainable water supply capacity expansion planning.

Moving to the Oil and Gas industry, Ashley worked as an Environmental and Social Advisor for BP on major Upstream projects in Angola and then for on- and off-shore operations in the North Sea. Following that Ashley became an Global Upstream Environmental Modelling Advisor specializing in Effluent Treatment, Oil Spill Contingency, and Air Impact Assessments.

Ashley currently holds the role of Global Head of Environmental Improvement in APM Terminals. Here Ashley is developing and implementing a new environmental improvement program within APM Terminals’ Operating System. The strategy is designed to leverage cross-function and multi-disciplinary expertise  to achieve better environmental outcomes which can then be multiplied through collaborations and partnerships with stakeholders and customers.

Ashley is Chartered Scientist and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
